I'm going to have a poker night - just for my friends - and was hoping for advice. It's just going to be a fun evening and nothing too serious...

My advice would be to make sure everyone knows the format of whatever games you are going to play and make sure everyone is comfortable. Good food and a glass or two of fine wine are a must and if you're having a tournament, make sure that anyone who gets knocked out early won't be bored and has something to do.
I remember busting out at Basement Jacks in Greenwich (I think it's closed down?) about 15 minutes after arriving and playing hang man with a rather lovely barmaid... (on my request!) ;)
Her boyfriend went on to take everything I'd brought to the club in the cash game after the tournament :D Win some!
If my memory serves me correctly..didn't you play noughts and crosses AFTER the lovely barmaid declined to play STRIP hangman with you?? Ace you're a Legend!
...it almost made my losses for the night worthwhile ;)
Make sure you've got plenty of Jack Daniels in the chiller - play tournament style and fix your stakes at the beginning of the evening - only allow people to buy in ONCE/TWICE MAX ;)!
Enjoy the company and the game... try NOT to take it too seriously (that's easier when you're playing for low stakes!)
