UK Poker Buddy, Kojak, Selects the Best Poker Videos on the Internet
Sometimes I feel that we get a bad deal over here in the UK. We obviously love poker, and as the success of the old Late Night Poker on Chanel 4 showed, we love watching it as much as playing it.
In the UK we’re left with the prospect of the Blue Square Poker Challenge (beamed to your screens from the bright lights of Luton) at o’Christ o’clock on a school night, or the Womens World Open featuring that well know world beater Leilani…
In the USA they get to watch the likes of Doyle Brunson, Sammy Farha, Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein on a regular basis in shows like Poker After Dark, High Stakes Poker, WPT coverage, and coverage of WSOP events. We don’t get to see a bit of it, except on Youtube where kindly souls like “Emrene†have posted hundreds of vids for our viewing pleasure.
The amount of stuff on there can be a bit daunting – and sometimes hard to find, so I thought I’d attach some links to some quality action which shows why these guys are pros: sticking $340k into a pot like you just re-raised your friend a fiver in your home game takes some balls, but I guess that’s why people like Doyle are legends.
Starting off with the biggest pot in High Stakes Poker history in the middle of a $500k buy in cash game, Doyle makes a great call against Guy (owner of Cirque du Soleil) Laliberte. Make your own mind up about Guy’s play…!:
Next, what would you do if you were Jamie Gold here? Would you be good enough to get away from the hand? I guess you can’t blame him, although you may hate him by the River… Jamie “the card rack†Gold strikes again!
This next vid is quality, with heads up play between two of my favourite players: Daniel Negreanu and Gus Hansen. Just sit back and enjoy watching this one unravel. I love Doyle’s voice in the background: “It’s a good pot, but I’ve seen bigger†– and he’s one person you’d definitely believe!
Saving the best for last, it’s our very own Denis Mahoney. You may have seen this vid before, as it was actually shown on British telly and has had over 2/3 million hits on Youtube. It’s got to go down as one of the best plays and best reads ever shown on the box, and one of the maddest cold decks!
