International Poker Open blog number 1 - the eagles have landed

Last Thursday night, having braved Ireland's favourite budget airline, the Princess and Kojak landed in Dublin. Having been harassed by the airlines forthcoming crappy euro pop single, the prospect of a tin whistle and a pint of the black stuff seemed more than appealing. I picked up the phone called the Gutshot kid. 'Come to the Skylon, ask for the baaaaar!' he roared having a good 4 hours drinking behind him already. We had some catching up to do.

A short taxi ride later we walked into a the tasteful lobby of the Skylon Hotel to be greated by a familiar face, who was off his face! Deprived for nearly 2 years of contact with the Kid in person, it was a joyeous reunion. 'Kid you're drunk!' I said, 'No I've been awake for 36 hours' came the slurred reply. A likely story. We all settled for a pint and sat down to do some serious catching up. Kid, his usually exuberant self decided a bottle of champagne was in order. 'Would you like that open?' asked the waiter....it was gong to be one of those weekends!
