The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

The Good the Bad and the Ugly is a fun variation on Texas Hold'em. This is how a hand is played:
- Each player is dealt 3 hole cards, 2 are face down and 1 is face up
- The flop. 3 cards are placed face down in the middle of the table, these are called the ‘community’ cards.
- There is a round of betting and then the first of the 3 community cards is turned face up onto the table. This card is called ‘The Good’. All cards of the same ranks as ‘The Good’ are now wild cards (any value) but ‘the good’ card on the table cannot be used to complete any players final poker hand.
- There is another round of betting and then the middle of the community cards is turned face up onto the table. This card is called ‘The Bad’ and all cards of the same rank help but players have to be discarded (regardless of whether they are face up or face down)
- There is another round of betting and then the final community card is turned face up on the table. This card is called ‘The Ugly’. All players at the table who’s card facing up is of the same value must fold their hand.
- There is another round of betting and then each player is dealt one more card face down.
- There is than a final round of betting after which all players must show their cards and the highest hand wins the pot.
