Casino Stud Poker is another game that is common in casinos all over the world though its not a type of Hold'em.
The Aim of Casino Stud Poker

In both Casino Stud Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker the object of the game is the same – you need to have a better hand than the dealer at the showdown.
All hands are all rated in the strict poker sense.
How to play Casino Stud
- Find yourself a seat at a Caribbean/Stud Poker table and let the dealer know that you want to play. There will be a minimum and maximum bet for your ante/blind at the table.
- Before any cards can be dealt, each player must make an initial ante/blind bet in order to be dealt their cards.
- Place your ante/blind on the small circle in front of you that is marked for it. When the antes/blinds are placed on the table the dealer will deal one card to each player in turn and then one to themselves. The dealer will do this five times. All of the cards will be dealt face down onto the table except the fifth card that is dealt to the dealer. This is left face up for all of the players to see. When the deal is finished, all players at the table will now be able to pick up their cards and decide whether they want to play their hand or fold it.
- Here are 2 important rules to know about this game that come into force at this point in the play:
- In order to 'play' your hand, you have to make another bet of exactly twice the value of your ante/blind bet. This is called a raise. If you chose not to raise then you are choosing to fold and you'll lose your ante/blind.
- The dealer will only compete against your hand if their hand has a value of at least, Ace-King-x-x-x (x can be any card). This is known as qualifying.
- The rules of the game mean that betting levels are fixed and players who raise with a hand, will only be paid out (at even-money) on their ante/blind bet if the dealer's hand doesn't qualify. If you hold a strong hand, like 10-10-10-x-x, you will be restricted to raising only twice your ante/blind but if the dealer's hand doesn't qualify, you will only be paid out on your ante/blind bet. The raise will be returned to you.
- When all of the players at the table have made their decision, the dealer turns over all of their own cards to see what the value of their hand is. If they don't qualify then all ante/blind bets are paid back. If they do, then the dealer compares their hand with each of the individual players’ hands. The winning players’ hands are paid out on both ante/blinds and raise bets, losing players hands lose all bets.
Playing conditions are as with any game of poker. Don't show your cards to other players and don't expect them to show you theirs either! There is no benefit to this as you're playing against the dealer and the house will not be happy.

Looking at your hand before your turn to make a move
If you take a look at your cards you could be missing vital information that other players around the table could be giving you as they look at theirs. As well as that, as soon as you remind yourself of what you have you could start to give away some tell tails of your own. In future wait for your turn around the table and make the most of the time you have to study the other players.

There are lots of ways to learn to play Poker but which will be best for you? Take a look at the different options below before you make your decision.
1. Playing the game:
You can read about Poker and watch games on TV until the cows come home but for learning, nothing beats the thrill of a real live game. Practice makes perfect and this combines with a little knowledge can go a long way in testing your skills and improving your game. If you play against the same people regularly and end up coming in second most of the time than you probably need to have a regular weekly home game to gain more knowledge about the people around the table.

There will be plenty of times when playing Texas hold'em that you'll need a certain card to come out on the flop, the turn, or the river. So it's a great benefit to know what your odds are of making your flush or straight on the river. Maths is an important part of poker and you need to know your approximate odds at any time in a hand to make the most of your chances of winning.
Sounds Complicated?

It's not as complicated as you might think to work out the chances of finding that card that you need on the board. You really need to know two things:

Royal Hold’em has the same rules as Texas Hold’em with one major difference: The game is played with a stripped deck of cards that leaves only 20 cards to play with running from 10 to Ace. This is how a hand of Royal Hold’em is played:
**strip the deck you are using of all cards numbered 2 to 9**
- Hole Cards. Two cards are dealt face down to each player around the table.
- The Flop. Three cards are dealt face up on the table for everyone to see and these are called ‘community’ cards.
- The Turn. Alongside the flop a fourth card is dealt face up onto the table.
- The River. A fifth card is dealt to the table face up to make up the five cards that you have.
The five cards on the table are for everyone, they are called the community cards. You make your hand by, using any of the seven cards (the two in your hand and the five on the table) to make the best poker hand that you can using five. All the players at the table have access to the community cards. When playing for money there are four rounds of betting, one round after each card is dealt.
